A 6,500 square-foot duplex apartment in a quiet by-lane of central Bangalore road. With a floor plan that includes 4 bedrooms, a home-theatre, walk-in-wardrobes, a large kitchen and dedicated service rooms, not to mention state-of-the-art home automation, the challenge was to create a space that is homely, while retaining its grandness of scale and regality, and to find the appropriate design language to balance the modern space with the classic luxurious furniture.
A fine palette of dark walnut and leather, and sober and elegant colours were chosen to allow the contradictory attributes to fuse. Chamfered walnut burl panelling adorns nearly every wall in the public rooms of the house, crowned with intricately detailed wooden and fabric ceilings and lush, eclectic furniture.
The dining room is in a separate area that has a magnificent view of the quietest corner of the garden, with a beautiful chandelier over the centre of the table and direct access to the Italian-made-made wet kitchen.
Source also designed the lobbies, corridors and common areas of the project.
