Bangalore Club Suites

Source Architecture was approached to re-design the prestigious Suite Rooms at Bangalore Club, for their 150th year as the most exclusive social club of the city.

Bangalore Club was established in 1868 as the Bangalore United Services Club in the traditions of the Colonial Clubs of the British Empire, and was opened to civilian membership in 1946, after the Indian Independence.

The design of the suite rooms challenged us to acknowledge the colonial history of the Club while providing the Club with facilities that are technically modern and match the expectations of its international and cosmopolitain clientele.

Traditional elements such as handmade tufted leather furniture and wainscoting on all the walls were combined with a modern, seamless ceiling treatment and technically perfect lighting, air conditioning and bathroom facilities.

The finishing touches were the selection of artwork, consisting of British-era photography and etchings of Bangalore sourced from the many galleries and collectors in the city, taking the guests of the Suites back to the time of the inception of this historical institution.
